Break Down Complex Work with Subtasks
Big tasks are easier to tackle when you break them into smaller pieces. Subtasks let you attach child tasks to a parent so you can manage complex work without losing the bigger picture.
Two ways to add subtasks
You can add a subtask from inside a task by scrolling to the Subtasks section and tapping +. Or you can drag any existing task onto another task - hold for 3 seconds and it attaches as a subtask.
Just like regular tasks, subtasks support all the same fields: dates, priorities, tags, assignees, and more.
How they behave on the board
When you mark a parent task as complete, all of its subtasks are automatically marked complete too. When you complete a subtask individually, it moves to the next column on the board. The parent task also appears in that column so you always have context.
The subtask count on the parent updates as you go, so you can track progress at a glance without opening it.
Detach when needed
Changed your mind? Long press a subtask and select Detach from parent. It returns to the board as a standalone task.
One thing to keep in mind - Tasks supports one level of nesting. A subtask cannot have its own subtasks.
